West Ham United bounced back in style as they comfortably defeated struggling Sheffield United with a 2-0 victory. This win marks just the fifth time in their last 16 head-to-head matches against the Blades.

West Ham, looking to regain their momentum after two consecutive Premier League defeats, started the game strongly. They had a golden opportunity to take an early lead through Tomáš Souček, but the midfielder’s strike from close range went over the crossbar.

Despite missing that chance, the Hammers continued to apply pressure on Sheffield United. Jarrod Bowen’s header forced goalkeeper Wes Foderingham into action, and Nayef Aguerd’s follow-up effort was cleared off the line.

However, it was only a matter of time before West Ham broke the deadlock. In the 24th minute, Bowen scored his first home goal of the season, slamming the ball home after a precise cut-back from Vladimír Coufal.

The floodgates opened for West Ham, and they quickly doubled their lead with Souček finding the back of the net in the 37th minute. The midfielder showed great composure to evade challenges from Sheffield United defenders before finishing clinically.

The second half saw an improved performance from the visitors, who tested West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola through Anel Ahmedhodžić’s effort. However, Sheffield United never looked likely to mount a comeback.

Instead, West Ham maintained control of the game and secured their first clean sheet in four home games. The victory was never in doubt, as Sheffield United’s struggles continued with just one point from their first seven Premier League matches.
